FAQ
Q) How accurate are the monitors?
In house factory testing with professional metering equipment show accuracy to be within + / - 10%. Of the electric meter. In a majority of cases we have found this to be around the 5% mark. The reason we cannot guarantee 100% is due mainly to circuit power factors and the fact that we do not take a voltage reference.
Q) How do I clear the memory on the display?
If you press and hold both outer buttons on the display monitor (dependant on model) simultaneously for 2 seconds, the display will flash C L R, and on release return the display to the factory settings, with the memory cleared
Q) Does the device need batteries?
The transmitter and the receivers work with 1.5v alkaline batteries and in addition the monitors can be powered by 6v DC adaptor to save on the use of batteries.
Q) How long should the batteries last?
Battery life depends upon the quality and condition of batteries used, time spent interrogating the collected data and the intervals between transmissions. In ideal conditions up to 1 year of battery life can be expected in the products. We only recommend 1.5v and not 1.2v rechargeable.
Q) Display is showing 3-4 dashed lines in the display?
The transmitter and receiver are not linked.
(1) How long has the customer been using the devices? Is it new? If new check serial numbers on the reverse of both battery compartments. The two long numbers should match.
(2) Occasionally we have had feedback from customers with a problem after batteries have been removed. The problem is due to a static charge build up in the transmitter and receiver. Solution: Remove batteries from both units and leave out for approx 1 hour and then re-link using the instruction manual.
Q) Do I need an electrician to install the Efergy meter?
The sensors should easily clip directly on to the outside of your existing meter wiring. See the installation Videos for extra guidance. If you are in any doubt or concerned about the safety of your existing meter wiring, always consult a qualified electrician before attempting to fit the Efergy meter yourself.
Q) Can the device be used to monitor Economy-7 or dual tariff?
The monitors have a dual tariff setting. This is simply set up on the display when you enter the time, date, and tariff info.
Q) Does it work with three phase?
Yes, two additional sensors are required. These can be purchased separately to the original unit.
Q) Is it possible to get current sensors capable of accepting a larger diameter cable?
Yes, you can buy an XL extra sensor which fit up to 19mm. Dia. cable
Q) How long does the device store data for?
Some models store up the last 2 years information. They also store the last 7 days and last 7 weeks data, separately so you can compare easily your energy habits in the last days or weeks.
Q) Can two or more monitors be used in the same environment?
Each transmitter / display monitor has a dedicated protocol. This means that it is very unlikely that they will interfere with each other, even if there are three or four in the same building.
Q) What is the range of the display unit from the transmitter?
The wireless display has a range of 40-70m. But this will depend upon the environment in which it is working.
